Steam Engine – Big Boy 4014

Today we had a steam engine roll on through town, on its journey to Wyoming for restoration.  It was the Big Boy 4014, and it was built in 1941.  We weren’t going to go see it but changed our minds at the last minute.  So into the jeep we went, and my husband took me on some wild ride through the desert next to the railroad tracks.  He got me to the perfect viewing and shooting spot…with an old bridge and water tank as the backdrop.  We waited about an hour before it made its grand appearance.  I managed to snap a few shots before it was past us and on its way to the next town of Barstow.  I decided to turn the photos into black and white because it just seemed to make more sense.  The black and white just brings an ambiance of oldness to the photo and the train
